In the first quarter of 2023, the top 5 music and podcasts apps on the iOS platform in the Czech Republic showcased interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Spotify - Music and Podcasts experienced a mixed quarter. Weekly revenue peaked at around $546 in mid-February, while weekly downloads saw a decline from approximately 11.5K at the end of December to around 5.5K by the end of March. Despite these fluctuations, weekly active users showed a steady increase, climbing from about 540K to 580K over the quarter.

Shazam: Find Music & Concerts had a stable performance in weekly downloads, starting at 4.4K in late December and ending at around 2.3K by late March. The app maintained a relatively consistent number of weekly active users, hovering around the 320K mark throughout the quarter. Revenue was negligible for most of the period.

YouTube Music showed significant revenue generation, peaking at approximately $11.5K in mid-February. Weekly downloads were consistent, ranging from 1.8K to 1.3K. Active users saw a steady increase from about 72K in late December to 77K by mid-March.

Apple Music Classical, which was released at the end of March, saw impressive initial downloads of about 11.5K and around 9.8K active users in its launch week. Revenue data for this period was not significant.

SoundCloud: Discover New Music had a modest revenue performance, peaking at $244 in mid-March. Weekly downloads varied, starting at approximately 1K in late December and ending at around 768 by late March. Active users remained stable, fluctuating around the 125K mark throughout the quarter.
